Friends of Pioneer Park Aviary Adopt-a-Bird Program
Becoming an adoptive parent to one of your avian neighbors is a rewarding experience–and you don’t even need to hire a babysitter! Adoptions ensure quality care and ongoing well-being for the beautiful birds at the Pioneer Park Aviary and make great gifts for any occasion: birthday, holiday, anniversary, graduation, or just that special something for the loved one who has everything.
It costs $100 to care for one bird for one year. The goal of this program is to create a long-term, permanent source of funding. Please consider making your support of the Aviary an annual donation! The Adopt-a-Bird Program is vital to the survival and future of Pioneer Park Aviary. Your donation is tax deductible and your support is truly appreciated!

Ducks Adopt an aviary duck like “Shelley,” a Paradise Shelduck. Shelducks are indigenous to New Zealand. Shelley has resided at the aviary for over 10 years, and as a very vocal individual, she is the perfect “Spokesduck” for PIoneer Park Aviary. |

Geese Hawaiian Geese, or NeNe, are an endangered species endemic to volcanic slopes on Hawaiian Islands. You can make a difference with your support for at-risk species. |

Swans Native to southern South America, the Coscoroba Swan is the smallest species of seven types of swans in the world. Natives of South America gave these swans their name because their call sounds like “cos-co-ro-ba.” |

Peafowl The showmen of the aviary during the spring and summer months, Indian Peacocks can be heard for miles around and serve as eye-candy for closeup encounters. This national bird of India is a perennial favorite of Walla Walla residents and delights visitors from all over the region and beyond. |

Pheasants One of the aviary’s most popular residents, the Blue-Eared Pheasant is a monotypic species (a category containing only one species.) It is found throughout mountain forests in central and western China. These pheasants have adapted well to high altitudes in extreme northern Sichuan, Tibet, and northward into Gansu in China in coniferous forests at altitudes up to 11,500 feet. |
